We've saved 4 cubic yards fom landfill! 8/9

August, 2024

Despite the early and rainy start for the pickup today, we were able to collect 163.2 pounds of kitchen scraps for our new composting pile! We've now doubled the size of this new pile, exceeding our expectations for how fast this pile could grow. At this rate, we will be able to have more finished compost even faster. To this, we want to thank the houses for doing a great job leaving out their bins of kitchen scraps for us to collect, and an even bigger thank you for a bunch of houses chopping up big pieces of food into smaller bits-- this saves us a lot of chopping time, as we need the pieces to be smaller for a faster composting process. Additionally, two of our older piles are finishing up and we are preparing to heat treat that finished compost very soon! Thank you all again!

Didn’t know about the smaller piece preference/priority. Great job!
