Pickup 6/27 - Big day!

Today we collected 138 pounds of kitchen scraps! More importantly, today we achieved several large milestones. We have collected over 4,000 pounds of scraps over the past 8 months. This is roughly the weight of a hippo, shipping container, or a small plane! It is crazy how much the households have managed to collect over this short time, and we are looking forward to growing even further and collecting even more scraps! In addition to this milestone, we are also happy to announce our finished compost passed the radish test!  On Monday we planted a radish seed into sample pots of our heat treated, finished compost.  The seeds germinated in a few days indicating our compost is good quality and ready for use. We are giving one 10 pound bag to each participating household who would like one! After that we will be charging a small price for each bag. Please ask your friends and neighbors if they would like some, we will deliver.
