Pick up - 2/9

Today, we welcomed three new houses to our initiative and despite one household being away, we managed to collect 109 pounds of kitchen scraps! We had a visiting volunteer from Greenwich High School who was keen to learn more about composting. We also measured the compost at 110 degrees which indicates active composting. Our second pile is inactive at the moment, however, we are trying to raise its temperature by adding more scraps. Next week is February break, so we are not expecting very much compost.
